Snowmobiling…errr…Snowmachining rocks my world!

Friday brought me a new experience. A work outing took me to Daniel’s Summit Lodge, east of Heber, Utah, for my first time snowmobiling, or as they call it in Alaska and elsewhere, snowmachining.
I had recently watched the X Games and saw people jumping the sleds. While I did manage to get a bit of air off of a jump in a basin we ventured into, I cannot imagine doing a front roll or a 360 on such a large machine. That’s just crazy!
Thankfully we had a beautiful day on the mountain to enjoy. While the snow is way down this year compared to what is considered normal, there was plenty of powder for me to get caught in and have to dig out of.
Will I do it again? Most definitely yes.
What’s my favorite new TV show added to my repetoire at the moment? The Voice. The coaches are real, interact well with each other, and throw a little competition into everything that happens on the show. I do not feel like any of the four – Blake, Christina (and her two friends), Cee Lo or Adam – are cracked out and out on their own planet like so many of the judges on Idol and X Factor have been recently. I’m curious to see where this show goes once the teams are built (those that have watched Season 1 can probably fill me in on that).
Nothing MAJOR has driven me to opine over the last week, but a few things here and there have come up that my friends and family have either heard me throw down a rant or ranted to me about:
– Separation of church and state – some don’t like that this made it into churches. I’m not one of them, but I will say that the argument against President Obama’s actions should not have been the focus of the homily or sermon. Create a dialogue for those who want it after the one hour most are trying to focus on their religion and not on politics. Now, if our President had respect for the Constitution, we would not even have to face this issue.
– Lin-sanity – By rule I am not a fan of teams from New York. Let’s be honest, I’m from Detroit, why would I be. BUT, Jeremy Lin has me so intrigued, so enamored with the style of play and excitement coming out of MSG that I cannot help but root for the Knicks and Lin right now. It doesn’t hurt that he’s an Ivy Leaguer, not exactly an NBA hotbed. Lin, Lin, Lin! I’m all in.
– My Grandpa sent me a link to a handmade car maker in England today – The Morgan Motor Company (check out www.morgan-motor.co.uk). I’m impressed and hope I can buy one some day (then again, I’ll need to learn how to drive a manual, something I should put on my bucket list – even though I still maintain it is efficiency and not laziness which drives the benefit of driving an automatic, contrary to the sentiment eminating from my English accented friends across the pond).
– Pitchers and catchers reported to Spring Training. Pumped for baseball season to start. Really pumped.
